Alyssa Herman

Alyssa Herman

I had a fantastic afternoon photographing Alyssa Herman.  She is the daughter of Scott and Carolyn Herman who are two prominent music educators in Maryland.  I have had the joy of photographing Alyssa her entire life,  having witnessed her transformation from being a beautiful baby to the stunning young women she is today.  Alyssa is a wonderfully articulate and mature young lady with many talents.  Just a few years ago she came over to do a ballet shoot.  Now as a rising junior at Thomas Wootton High School, Alyssa  is contemplating a career in the performing arts as a singer or actress.  Alyssa is a member of the Wootton band program and is very active in the Wootton Theater Department.  She is also a member of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and was selected to play in the the Maryland All-State Band.

Your headshot is your calling card

Spend the money. It’s worth it. Go to a professional, who is trained, understands lighting, and takes headshots for a living, not some friend who happens to have a decent camera who “sorta knows a little about photography.” Save those pictures for Instagram, and leave the headshots to the pros. Professional headshots range from $400-$1200, and to get them properly duplicated (not at Walgreens) will cost you another $100 or more. Anything less is just a glorified passport photo. If the headshots look cheap, they probably are. And you look like you don’t care about your career. When that headshot appears on a casting director’s computer, you want them to say, “Yes, bring that person in!
