Congratulations to the new Silver Beavers and all of last night’s honorees!
My assignment last week encompassed photographic coverage of The first International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation workers convention, which is now the largest union in the United States and Canada. It was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. This historical event required my skills not only as a convention photographer but also an Industrial photographer. A daily newspaper was published each day which meant fast turn-a-round plus many of the images will appear in the union’s Journal. The most exciting part of the event came when I photographed a panorama with 1200 delegates. At the same time my wife, Bette, Photographed me on a scissors lift doing what I do best which is enjoying my job! To me this was the opportunity of a lifetime and I made every effort to record everything with precision including images of the entire set-up for the production company, the hotel and the client.
Eagle Career Day was held at the Universities of Shady Grove. Norman Augustine, past CEO of Lockheed-Martin discussed the aerospace industry and how his career was totally enhanced as a result of being an eagle scout. He made mention of his friends from all walks of life that had served in a leadership role nationally and internationally who had relied on the values learned as an eagle scout to excel in their profession. Among these individuals was his close friend and astronaut Niel Armstrong.
This is my friend Marcus Appelbaum, who is the coordinator of community partnerships, with DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier. There are powerful lessons to be learned about law enforcement and society from the holocaust.
Last night my assignment was to photograph the first part of the Montgomery College concert series which was a jazz ensemble. Everything was photographed in available light at high speed. The performance was magnificent and the assignment was loads of fun. I will add to this post later today.
